Fitting is one of the biggest challenges we face when buying new boots because there is no universal standard for sizing.

Every person has different foot sizes, and even your two feet can have different sizes. The shoe fitting of one brand can differ from another brand’s fitting, even if the size is the same.

As a result, we often end up buying the wrong size shoes because we don’t know how to find the correct boot size. A study has shown that around 70% of people wear poor fit shoes.

Recently, I purchased two pairs of shoes: gym shoes from Nike and running shoes from VAMJAM, both in the same size. The running shoes fit well, but the gym shoes fit terribly.

I decided on the size by referring to the size of my old shoes and then matched that size on the chart provided by the seller.and i ended up buying the wrong shoe size.

To find the perfect fitting shoes that comfortably support your foot  it is important to know how to measure your foot.

In this guide I will discuss the method to measure your foot correctly that will help you to find the best fitting shoes.

If the above steps are not clear, watch the video below where my friend Isha explains very beautifully how to measure feet at home.

Sometimes, even after careful measurement, shoes may feel a bit tight, especially when they are made of materials like leather. To learn how to make tight shoes more comfortable, read our article on how to stretch leather shoes.

Tip:

For the most accurate result it is advised to measure the feet at the end of the day as the feet tend to swell throughout the day and have slightly larger measurements in the evening than the morning.

Also wear your regular socks while taking the measurement for a more accurate size.

2. Foot Width Measurement:

Shoes width is a more complicated parameter than shoe length because none of the brands provide this parameter in their size chart.

But you can get a general idea of the shoe width based on the letter indication such as “B” “D” and 2E etc.

It is impossible to find the right shoe width without trying it because there is no universal standard for this.Below chart will help you to understand the different widths and their meaning.
